GUEST BOOK

Dear Mary, Bill and Libby, We are so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Fay was always such a kind and loving person, and we know that she will be missed by many. Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend the service, but please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. With Love, Jan Daniel Crawford and Jim & Kathy Daniel

- Jan Daniel Crawford, Savannah, GA

It was a privilege to be a student in Dr. Fay's first biology class she taught at Armstrong. During the past 68 years we have served on various boards together and it has always been an inspiration to all who knew her to admire her great knowledge and understanding even very late in life.

- Frank A. Rizza M.D,, Savannah, GA

To Libby, Mary and Bill, Your mother was one of the first people I met when coming to Savannah. My chief memory wil be her unfailing graciousness to all around her. My heart goes out to you in your loss.

- Jean Easterling, Savannah, GA

Dr. Fay was great on the school board and she did hand me my diploma back in 1990.

- James Clanton, Savannah, GA

In memory of a wonderful friend and ally.

- Elizabeth P. Johnson, Savannah, GA

Martha was one of a kind. She was a little lady who twinkled like the brightest star. It was an honor to be in her company. Marge Langston/NARFE

To All The Family, My husband and I are deeply saddened at the passing of Dr. Martha. We knew of her many activities, responsibilities and accomplishments by reading the local newspaper. However, she joined the residents at The Savannah Square Community shortly after we joined. Dr. Martha remained very active and was a delightful lady. She lived very near us. Her dog, Minnie, and our dog, Star used to bark and chase each other through the back yards. Dr. Martha loved flowers and plants. She worked out in the beds frequently. Occasionally, we would dine with her. We had the opportunity to get to know her and truly feel privileged in having done so. She certainly will be missed, but remembered dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and the family. Warmly,

- Marie & Bill Robinson, Savannah, GA

- Rebecca J Starling, Tucson, AZ

A dear friend from our closely shared Armstrong days in the forties, 'Willie' was our faculty steel spine, beloved by every colleague and student.

- Joseph & Harriet Killorin, Tybee Island, GA

Just a wonderful person, full of good thoughts of Dr. Fay.

- Caroline Hopkinson, Savannah, GA

Dr. Fay was one of the people who made Savannah special. As a senior in high school in 1982 she presented me with the William C. Harris Jr. Scholarship. Afterward she was always a gracious and friendly acquaintance whenever I saw her at social gatherings. I have warm memories.

- Carol Susan Linskey, Vestal, NY

Dr. Martha Fay always seemed larger than life to me, not because she was an intimidating person but because of the respect and awe my mother held her in. I could tell she was special just by the way my mom said her name. I remember visiting her house and feeling comfortable because she had books all over. There were lots and lots of windows which looked out into a huge backyard, or so it seemed to my ten year old self. It was a perfect place full of trees and laughter, for you could not be around Dr. Fay long without hearing her chuckling about one thing or another. I remember seeing her in her girl scout uniform and sash, though I was never a part of her troop. She always seemed to be dashing about to various girl scouting events in between church and other activities. She was cool, long before it was fashionable to be cool, because she had actually lived in Switzerland and spoke French. She led by her example of service. She was my mother’s good friend. We’ll miss her.

- Vivian Bacca, Brandon, FL

I have great respect for Dr. Faye as a person and as a colleague on the Chatham County Board of Health. She made a difference in the lives of community members and all who who knew her. Dr. Catharine Powell, Chatham County Board of Health member

- Dr. Catharine Powell, Pooler, GA

My first memory of Dr. Fay was visiting her house as a second-grader with my mom. I had missed a couple of Brownie meetings and did not have a 'sit-upon' to present at my next meeting. Dear Dr. Fay saved my life that day by giving me one that she had. Her home was always open and her family always so very nice. Dr. Fay taught my mom, Mary Jarrell at Armstrong Jr. College. My mother always spoke so very highly of Dr. Fay and remained close friends with her until her death last year. Dr. Fay was the one who my mom called when she suffered her first heart attack. Of course she just knew it wasn't a heart attack but something that did need to be addressed. I never did get to thank Dr. Fay for saving my moms life. I would like to thank her family for sharing this wonderful lady with all of us. Godspeed Dr. Martha Fay !!

- Claire Jarrell, Savannah, GA

I am sad to hear of Dr. Fays passing. As a graduate from Savannah High School, class of 1983, Dr. Fay handed me my diploma when I graduated. She tired shortly after that and had to sit through the remainder of the ceremony. I feel honored to have had a leader such as herself there at an important event in my life. She was an incredible woman and an inspiration to many. My condolences to all of her friends and family.
